I spent the morning looking at ‘how to’ videos for mokume gane (the quality of videos is poor) and reading ‘how to’
books. I tried two approaches – with solder (as in picture) which worked at this first stage; and without, which didn’t go so well as it only partly fused.
This is my desk laid out for assessment. The bowl in the middle is the repousse still in its pitch as its not finished. I got A3 (which is good)
I tried raising a vessel from a 6inch circle of copper, it looked good en route, but trying to neck it has been problematic (next time I’ll take pictures as I go along)
Term assessment is next week, so focus has been on that. Repousse not quite finished, but I made a leather belt and leather and copper cuff Also pieces using the weaving; and
a fold form using ideas from the Nuno textile exhibition.
