I made 10 earrings yesterday as a set, using pieces found on the beach and other oddments/treasures from my collection.

Scottish Sculpture Workshop (1)
I spent a week exploring developments of my casting. I managed to fit in two bronze pours and remake the moulds ready for a third.
This picture shows bronze ready to pour, with some mould boxes in the foreground.
This picture shows small sapphires pinned into the beachsand mix. I am working on making sapphire windows in the cast bronze bowl.
Charm bracelet update
I had a request for a silver charm bracelet, so took some photos of my current stock.
I hope to add personal pieces to whichever bracelet is chosen, to make a unique piece more special.
January beach sortie
I found another cache of nails in a rock pool. Initially I thought it was just from the New Year bonfire, but I think these could be older.
There were also pieces of folded metal – copper and I guess lead.
and sunshine…
Beach combing, 17th January
I’m just back from a week at Goldsmiths’ Centre and I went down to the rocks to see what the waves have disturbed whilst I was away.
I particularly like the long copper nail and wonder what it was used for.
I also made up three sand moulds, but they are less photogenic.
Goldsmith’s Library research
I continued the research for my next collection at The Goldsmith’s Company library. What a fabulous collection and what helpful people. I love the pinned pearls in medieval jewellery and may incorporate this.
This pewter badge would be sewn to clothing, having been mass produced as a casting.
I love the primitive art work….
Getting Started
I’m heading back to the studio to start work on all the new ideas from my week at Goldsmith’s Getting Started course. First job will be the year planner. Fortunately I now have two – one from HSWalsh (a freebie in our goodie bag) and one from the Design Trust.
I also had a drink with the new owner of the fine silver bowl pictured on exhibit at Goldsmiths.
January 2017
A beautiful winter’s day again today, so I was out beach combing. I had to break a thin layer of ice on the rock pools to retrieve these nails, but the salt water rusts/patinates them brilliantly.
A lovely wave rippled rock too.
Happy New Year.
